Artists and art enthusiasts from Cape Charles and beyond recently participated in LOVE is in the Air, a Plein Air event weekend that was hosted by Cape Charles Main Street and Cape Charles, Virginia’s Cape. The event, created to celebrate the natural beauty and diversity of our hometown of Cape Charles, was a huge success.

Participating artists created plein air paintings over the course of the three-day event and then displayed their works at the Hotel Cape Charles on the final night. Juried by Bob Bilicki, owner of Current Reflections Gallery in Wachapreague, the show was a colorful mix of styles and scenes. The winner was Ted Leonard of Smithfield, Virginia, with his work, ‘Morning Light.’

Over 10 artists participated, and produced diverse and enchanting works in water color, acrylic, and oil. Each artist used their talents to create their own interpretation of our area and the results were impressive.

“It was lovely to see the hands of the artists portray the heart of our community,” says our own Linda Buskey, who attended the show.

Bay Creek was pleased to support this special event—it reminded us just how talented our local and regional artists are— and what a work of art our hometown truly is.

Special thanks to Cape Charles Main Street and our supportive Cape Charles community for putting on this unique and inspiring event.
